Acrylic on Textured Wall
An abstract piece dedicated to the fate of warriors who passed in battle and mothers who passed during labor. According to some Mesoamerican traditions, warriors and mothers would obtain the highest honor of becoming hummingbirds and follow Huitzilopochtli, chasing the night away, keeping the Sun Safe.
The piece features a hummingbird in front of a sunflower representing the sun in an eclipse. The bird and flower are flanked by cactus flowers, which are a source of food for hummingbirds in the harsh desert environment.
